Obituary:
Some lives are remembered for what they accomplished. Others are remembered for how they made people feel. Josephine “Jodie” Loveless Mignott will be remembered for both. Through quiet strength, unwavering faith, impeccable grace, and an extraordinary love for her family, she built a life that reflected resilience, compassion, and dignity. On July 18, 2026, Jodie entered eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
Jodie was born on July 14, 1958, in Florence, Alabama, to Louella Petty Loveless and Homer Loveless. At only two years old, she experienced the heartbreaking loss of her mother. She was lovingly raised by her sister, Sarah Shaw, whose care and guidance helped shape the woman Jodie would become. Growing up with humble beginnings, she learned early that perseverance, hard work, and faith could overcome life’s greatest challenges.
She attended Bradshaw High School before moving to Boston to live with her sister, Shirley, in search of greater opportunities. While there, she continued her education and began building a future defined not by where she started, but by what she was determined to achieve.
From an early age, Jodie had an unmistakable sense of style. Family affectionately described her as the family’s “fashion model.” Whether dressed for church, work, or a family gathering, she carried herself with elegance and confidence. She had an incredible eye for quality and was famous for finding beautiful clothing at remarkable bargains, often leaving people convinced she had spent far more than she actually had.
In the summer of 1977, while working as a receptionist at a driving school during a visit to Boston, Jodie met the love of her life, Dennis Mignott. Their connection was immediate. After she returned to Alabama, Dennis faithfully wrote her letters, each one carefully saved by Jodie throughout their life together. They were married on June 30, 1979, beginning a marriage built on love, friendship, mutual respect, and unwavering devotion.
Together they built a beautiful home and welcomed their beloved son, Maurice Mignott, who became the greatest joy of Jodie’s life. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, and the heart of her home. She taught by example the importance of integrity, respect, hard work, responsibility, and carrying oneself with honor.
Jodie also possessed a remarkable gift for creating beauty wherever she lived. Friends and visitors often asked who had decorated her home, never realizing every room reflected her own creativity and impeccable taste. She kept an immaculate home that was warm, welcoming, and filled with love—a place where family always felt at peace.
Professionally, Jodie spent much of her career in retail financial operations, working for companies including Filene’s Basement, Network Solutions, Kohl’s, and Macy’s. She earned the respect of coworkers through her dependability, precision, honesty, and exceptional work ethic.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church, 4695 S. Conway Road, Orlando with Pastor Todd Grant, officiating. Final services and interment will take place in Barton, AL under the direction of Thompson and Son Funeral Home.
